If you are not a keen skier, Chamonix also has a wide variety of fun and recreational activities suitable for all ages including bowling, shopping, cinema, ice hockey, helicopter tours, hot air balloon rides, husky sledding, indoor climbing and lots more. This popular ski resort in France also boasts a vibrant nightlife with many bars and even a few nightclubs to enjoy après ski. The resort is not short of ski accommodation, from cheap Chamonix apartments close to the town centre, to luxury catered ski chalets in Chamonix.
The ski season in Chamonix generally starts in November up until April but Chamonix also offers glorious summer weather from June to August. When flying to Chamonix most travellers fly into Genève, which is the nearest airport. From Geneva international airport to Chamonix is approximately 100km and a normal journey time should not exceed 1h15m. Alternative airports include – Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) and Grenoble–Isère Airport (GNB).
