  • "A perfect cosy cottage."

We slept so well and had the best time! Thanks so much!

  • "We had a lovely Christmas stay at Hollytree Cottage with our family."

A lovely village with a great convenience store, fabulous butchers shop, (best pies ever!), and two friendly pubs. The locals we met were very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was well equipped with cosy and comfy furnishings, a super shower and nicely fitted kitchen. We noticed that there was no welcome pack, but had a voicemail from Manor cottages on our 2nd day explaining that the housekeeper had fallen ill so the welcome pack hadn't been replaced and Christmas tree was not decorated. There are a few stone steps leading to rooms on both floors. Not a problem for us but probably not suitable for any visitor with mobility issues. Great comms as always from the booking agent, Manor Cottages.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're delighted you and your family enjoyed your Christmas at Hollytree Cottage. We would love to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Well proportioned cosy cottage."

Great position in the village, appreciated off-road parking. Felt welcomed and we appreciated all supplies (logs, washing tabs, liquid, etc.) to make the stay comfortable.

  • "Lovely period cottage, parking a little tight if you have a large car."

We decided to leave the dog behind and are glad we did as the 'garden" is where you park the car and has limited space, it has a small shingled area which is split level to the car parking area. I think it would be helpful to include a photo but understand why they don't as it would have put us off if we had our Labrador with us. We had to ask for glasses to be delivered as there were very few in the kitchen - this happened promptly and the management company were very responsive. I fed back that it was difficult to dry the towels as only one small towel radiator in the downstairs bathroom which requires the heating to be on. Hooks on the back of the door don't really help as there is a slight dampness to the property (old property with thick walls) and despite opening windows when in the property, we resulted to putting the heating on downstairs which isn't ideal when its hot outside. The bedrooms are a decent size but no wardrobes, just some hooks on the wall and a few coat hangers, but plenty of drawer space. It has a good location, but a busy road. There is a well stocked local store and the pub had good food. enjoyable stay but it shouldn't be given 5 ticks, 3 to 4 would be more appropriate.

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay here at Hollytree Cottage."

The beds were very comfortable. The sofas were also deep and comfortable (which isn't always the case even in cottages in a similar price range). We liked that the smart TV also had a sound bar, which meant that the sound quality when watching films was so, so much better than without. The kitchen had plenty of counter surfaces for cooking. Both the fridge and freezer were large. We also appreciated that the kitchen table was large enough for 8 people and not just 6. The shower had good water pressure, although it was slightly inconvenient having to come downstairs in the night to use the toilet. If anyone in your party is elderly, then be careful as there is a step up when walking from two of the bedrooms to the stairs before descending again - so you might want to help them or ensure they switch the corridor light on and take their time. Overall, we thought the property was attractively presented and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning.

  • "Great location in a lovely village."

We enjoyed the short walk to the local pubs and brewery. having a shop and butchers centrally as well meant that basic food requirements could be met without the need to drive further afield. Smart TV and WiFi is a must we feel in current world and these were both good for our stay. Points that we feel should be addressed - overall cleanliness was not the best. Many cobwebs in most rooms (not fresh cobwebs, these have been there for some time). Dog hairs on rug in living room. Plastic bowl under one of sofas showing a lack of attention to detail in the cleaning. From a facilities perspective some bins for use in the bedrooms would be useful. A spot light is out in the bathroom. And the outside security light appears to be broken and would continually turn itself on and off through the night. Also a time of year thing for us but no clocks had been moved forward an hour so all clocks were wrong, including the heating.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and loved the location. Thank you also for bringing to our attention to some issues you encountered and we're sorry if the cleanliness was not up to our usual high standards on this occasion. We have informed the Property Manager about all the points you have raised. We hope this didn't impact your stay and that we can welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "We’ve been to a few cottages over the past two years through Sykes Cottages, but I have to say that Hollytree Cottage has been my favourite so far."

Really comfortable sofas and beds. Lovely kitchen/diner where we spent most of our time playing games or chatting while doing a puzzle. Lovely area with lovely walks for us and our dog, with some interesting historical finds, such as the old disused/dismantled viaduct in the woods or recreating photos from old 1800’s photos from different points in the village from the books in Chipping Norton museum. We stayed in one of the hot August heatwave weeks and with the curtains closed, and a fan on in the kitchen, it actually stayed quite cool. The cottage alone was interesting when looking at the photos on the kitchen shelf, and realising that it was once two cottages, and then working out where the original features would have been. Even tho it’s on a corner in the middle of the village, it was really quiet, as it’s not a busy village. We had such a lovely peaceful relaxing week. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Thank you so much for this lovely review. We're delighted that you (and your dog) enjoyed your stay at Hollytree Cottage and found it so comfortable. We're also glad that you made the most of the surrounding area and managed to cope well with the heatwave! We look forward to welcoming you again. Property Owner

The property

Sitting in the heart of "ol' Hooky" (Hook Norton village) and around the corner from some cracking country pubs, "Hollytree Cottage" is just the perfect and typical Cotswolds' cottage.

Hundreds of years old (check out the old pics on the walls!) this sweet and charming cottage retains all its period charm but with much added comfort and style.

Fresh colours, limestone floors and a roaring wood burner make this just the perfect retreat.

The kitchen / diner is modern yet cosy - all beams and flagstone floors, the living room is spacious with super comfy sofas, while upstairs are three good sized bedrooms, each smart and simple in presentation with very comfortable beds.

There's a garden outside - but with a host of village pubs within walking distance you may prefer to take the fresh air when strolling for lunch or otherwise!

This is a blissful retreat where you are convenient for a host of Cotswolds gems.

If you're so inclined Daylesford and Soho Farmhouse are nearby, otherwise Chipping Norton is just 7 mins drive away.

We love it here and believe you will and your pooch too!

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
