  • "This was our second stay at Oxdales and it was just as good as the first - see my review in April 2022."

Excellent accommodation. Minor gripes are that there is no grab handle in the large shower and the taps in the kitchen (particularly the cold tap) are extremely difficult to turn off. Oxdales has everything you could want - comfort, space, facilities, equipment, location, and I highly recommend this cottage.

It’s situation on a farm near to super walks and cycling set in open countryside was great for us. Pam and Mark the owners were very friendly. Always prepared to stop for a chat about the farm and district. Only note would be to possibly check washers in kitchen taps.

  • "Had an absolutely wonderful time."

Cottage is clean and homely, location is perfect (so long as you have a car!) Lots of useful information leaflets on things to do in the local area. Love the garden and the outdoor shed to sit in. Only feedback is that you really need black out blind for the velux windows (which you can get, i used to have them in my bedroom at a previous house). It's very light out at 4am and 2 x 4 year olds thought it was time to get up because it was so bright in the bedrooms! Other than that, everything was wonderful and we would highly recommend!

Owners were pleasant and welcoming. Lovely garden and views. Cottage was well provisioned and comfortable. South part of the Peak District, in my view one of the most beautiful parts of England.

  • "Oxdales is a lovely cottage, very comfortable and spacious."

The lounge is cosy with comfy sofa, not so comfy chair which we didn't need to use as only two of us, TV, sky and dvd player plus a good choice of dvds. Kitchen is large with a dining table and well equipped with good size fridge freezer, oven and microwave. There is also the added benefit of a utility/games room with washing machine. The beds were very comfy and there was plenty of storage space with drawers and wardrobes. The shower room was huge with a Mira shower. A grab handle in the shower would be a useful addition. Each room had a heater or radiator which could be individually controlled, great for warm days followed by chilly evenings. The garden is not directly attached to the cottage but is a peaceful retreat with gorgeous views. Very quiet setting yet only a minute's drive to the A515 and all the delights of the Peak District. I would highly recommend this holiday accommodation.

  • "The cottage was excellent."

We very much appreciated the attention to detail that had gone into the presentation of the cottage and it was well equipped with everything we needed. Lots of helpful information about the surrounding area was available as well. The only difficulty was that the phone number for the owner of the property had not been updated on Sykes' website, even though the owner assured us that he had informed Sykes Cottages. Fortunately I was able to contact the owner on his mobile in order to get instructions for getting the key, but it was a worry when the landline came up as "not recognised".

It is ideally situated, close enough to major attractions, towns and services yet it provides a totally rural farm setting and is surrounded by lovely gardens. The cottage is well furnished, tastefully decorated and amply equipped with quality fixtures and consumables. We were impressed at the extent of the cottage, it’s surrounding gardens and facilities for our use. The hosts warm welcome and introductory tour where really appreciated.

Lovely comfortable cottage, well equipped for a family with children - including washing machine (which we weren't expecting) - and great location on a farm and with a beautiful garden. The only criticism is with the listing and information provided via booking.com. The telephone number for the property was incorrect (and at least 12 months out of date) and the hosts were informed that our children were teenagers even though our booking details stated that they are aged 3 and 1.

It is within easy driving distance of a selection of places to eat, and it is within walking/ cycling distance of the Tissington Trail and Dove Dale. The cottage is in a farm and so make it very private and quiet. The cottage: very well equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting room. Bathroom even though it is a downstairs bathroom, but it is well equipped with powerful electric shower and hot towel rail. The owner provided small touches in the bedroom so make going to toilet at night easier. It is a good size for two adults. Bedrooms are clean and bedding smells fresh. The Cottage garden: It is a very spacious garden with BBQ and lots of chairs and tables for outdoor dinning. Very private and enclosed. Next to open fields make it very relaxing.
