A steep return so much fitter by the end of the werk!. A great base to explore the area. Enjoyed trips out to Perranporth, Mousehole, St Ives and Marazion. Our dog loved the beaches and great that our beach allowed dogs from Sept 1st.

It has everything you need for a lovely base for a holiday in Cornwall. The garden was really good and safe for our little dog. Portreath is a quieter town compared to some others around this part of Cornwall which is a real plus. We loved our week there.

First couple of days were very chilly as the property had been empty for some time. A few light bulbs needed replacing, but hard to get to because of location of the lights. Just a short walk to Tehidy country park and a short drive to some stunning beaches. Overall a comfortable cottage in a quiet location.

  • "We had a very pleasant stay."

The downstairs areas of the cottage are very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the quiet location and the secluded garden. The kitchen was very well equipped. The are a few minor things that would have improved our stay- the cottage is set back and cant be seen at all from the road and the blue colour has faded to more of a white- which made it difficult to find- the "what three words" were incorrect- the correct ones are bids,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we're pleased that you enjoyed the cottage. We're sorry to hear that you had some difficulty finding the property but cannot see where we communicated information about what3words to you in our directions. We look forward to welcoming you at Incline Cottage in the future. Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage just a 15 minute walk to the beach in Portreath (downhill and through woodlands)."

While a few things could do with updating (the decking at the back, and some general decor updates), this is very reasonably priced cottage in Cornwall (or pay the extra £00's for a 5* place elsewhere!). We found it really comfortable for a family of 4 (two adults and two kids - 7 and 8), a cute old cottage, garden to play in or sit in, a great location and the owner was lovely in texting to make sure we had everything we needed. Would recommend.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Incline Cottage."

Jackie left a basket of treats and called us to check we were all ok - other than that we were left in privacy and had a very relaxing two weeks. The Cottage is in a great spot, only a short walk away from the beach, a local shop and pub/restaurants. We had everything we needed and due to the terrible weather spent more time than anticipated chilling in the house, which was cosy and warm. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to return again soon!

We had all the comforts of home, with a lovely wood burner to soothe away the evenings and keep us entertained as the days went by. The Owners were fantastic and flexible as we stayed a day longer with no issues as a storm passed by. A great Cottage with all the needed requirements of home, a fantastic location and generally we had a wonderful relaxing holiday that we will certainly look to repeat.

  • "Nice cottage located next door to the Feadon wildlife park and adjacent Landal Gwel an Mor holiday cottages (large holiday resort, but based on log cabins so quite nice to be next to)."

Cottage located in a cul de sac, parking on loose gravel outside and space enough for two cars, but you have to avoid the entrance to the adjacent private property. After the initial contact with the owners asking if we wanted them to do the laundry at the end of the first week, we were left to our own devices. Facilities in the cottage are fine, including a small BBQ. Description needs updating to state the removal of the games and books etc re Covid and we were told that we could'nt use the facilities in the holiday park next door when we went there and asked, also due to Covid. Rubbish wasnt collected for some reason on the first week - we did put out as instructed - so we were left juggling quite a few rubbish bags defending them from the local wildlife. The cottage could do with a maintenance update, as the kickboards underneath a few cabinets in the kitchen kept falling down making up jump, plus the cottage on arrival was a bit cobwebby. The shower seal on the shower panel also needs a look at, as it doesnt meet the bath well enough, plus there was mold on the high ceiling in the bathroom and bottom of the bathroom door. Some out of date food (oil etc) was left on the shelves. Owners kindly left a bottle of wine and a cake on arrival, which was very nice. Cottage is also opposite privately owned, or local council owned property and the guy in there is a bit ignorant, but generally just ignores you. As usual beaches are dog restrictive we took our dog before 10am and after 6pm, but it comes a bit 'dog-land', so if your dog doesnt like other dogs its hard work. Local walks are great, as you can walk down to the sea within 15 minutes. All in all we had a lovely stay.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your stay at Incline Cottage. We are pleased to hear that overall you had a lovely stay. We have spoken with the owner and discussed the points raised. Owners were advised to remove games and books at the initial out break of covid, this was been communicated to guests prior to their holidays and the owner of Incline Cottage also included this in the welcome folder. The facilities at the adjacent holiday park are not in anyway connected to Incline Cottage, due to covid all holiday parks with facilities closed of access. We are unsure what happened in relation to the refuse removal during your visit and apologise for this oversight. The shower seal has been checked and is working fine, the kickboards will be looked at and the bottom of oil has been removed. With all rural properties cobwebs can appear 20 minutes after a thorough clean! The property opposite is privately owned. Portreath is a lively doggy beach and much enjoyed by our 4 legged friends in that area! Property Owner

  • "The Cottage was a great location and space but there are a few areas that could be improved."

The dressing table in the main bedroom smells damp and musty this affects the whole room. The bed feels very creaky and tricky for a tall person to sleep in as it has a fixed bed end. The pictures on the walls look very worn and dusty - some look mouldy which ruins the feel of a clean home. We couldn't understand how to turn the heating down so we turned it off which was fine for summer. Even though the heating was off the radiator in the dining area stayed on. This would be worth investigating to save energy in the summer.

Only one black sack provided for the general rubbish. The TV seems to be a very long ongoing issue from other guest comments. On the large TV no itv channels and some freeview channels were missing. Does the TV need retuning or is the signal just really bad. In the listing does it say that the bathroom is downstairs?

  • "The property clearly stated it had a DVD player and yet neither DVD players worked at all and in the visitors book someone had reported this was the case in 2018 so it was even more disappointing."

It might seem trivial to some but our issue is as it had been clearly listed and on this basis of the listing our son saved the films he got for xmas films to watch. It was more than cleaning as the motor was not even turning the disc so no one obviously checks the equipment regularly you could say it might have just happened but both tv's had dvd players that did not work. Also some gas heaters had broken dials so although we had a lovely time it seemed some general housekeeping issues could be improved.

Very comfortable cottage. Very spacious with everything you could wish for. The area has beautiful beaches and lots of coastal paths close by which are great if you take dogs on holiday with you. The only setback we had were the directions to the cottage. They were out of date as new houses have been built nearby. Some of them were painted blue and Incline has recently been painted grey so we took a bit longer finding it. We got there in the end though. ☺ The bottle of wine and delicious fudge were very welcome

The property

Incline Cottage lies in a cluster of detached properties high above Portreath's scenic cove, perfectly positioned to explore the many beautiful beaches and villages along north Cornwall's picturesque coastline.

Portreath village centres around its harbour and sandy beach popular among families and surfers.

The village also has friendly shops and cafes to keep hunger and thirst at bay after a fun time in the sunshine. It boasts generous accommodation over two floors with contemporary furnishings.

There are two sitting rooms, one with a wood burning stove for all season warmth, and a super kitchen/dining room for social gatherings over a mid-morning coffee or afternoon cream tea.

There is a short flight of steep stairs which lead up to the two attractive bedrooms.

At the front is an enclosed garden with a lawn, and to the rear is a private walled patio and decked area with table and chairs; an excellent spot for alfresco dining or barbecue magic.

The coastal footpath south to Bassets Cove is a five mile amble there and back, with exhilarating, cliff top views.

The path to Porthtowan is a four mile trip - a famed surfing beach with golden sands and rolling dunes.

Tehidy Country Park is less than a mile away and offers a change of scenery with woodland nature trails, ponds and lakes where you can pony trek or cycle.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

PORTREATH

Truro 14 miles; St Ives 15 miles.

With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.

Note: Stairs is a little steep with shorter than average treads.
Note: Please note there are roadworks taking place on the cul-de-sac for 6 weeks as of 1st November.
