Saint Severin is within easy reach of the Bordeaux, Bergerac and Cognac vineyards as well as the chateaux, prehistoric caves and other attractions of the Dordogne valley.
The gardens, with views of the village and surrounding countryside, extend nearly an acre on two sides of the property. They include flower beds and fruit trees (guests can help themselves to the cherries, plums, figs, apples & hazlenuts according to the season) and a large area laid to lawn. Garden furniture and a gas BBQ are provided for eating and lounging around outside.

The house is less than a kilometre from the pretty village of Saint Severin, which has cafés & bars and an excellent restaurant, as well as a range of shops including a bakers/patisserie, butchers, chemist, newsagents and grocers.
Saint Severin is on the Charente/Dordogne border near the market towns of Riberac and Chalais, between the departmental capitals of Périgueux and Angouleme and north east of Bordeaux. To find the exact location of the village. seach for "Saint Severin 16390" in France on Google maps.

The living room contains a large sofa (seating 3-4 people) and easy chairs, a TV with access to terrestrial channels as well as UK & international satellite TV channels and a multisystem DVD player. The house has good GPRS/EDGE mobile phone/blackberry coverage and you can also access the internet at the house (using your home ISP account) if you bring a laptop and a dongle. Wifi is widely available locally.

An imposing entrance hall with original beams and staircase leads to a traditional French country kitchen with large fireplace, equipped with gas stove, fridge/freezer and microwave as well as a traditional buffet, table and chairs. Shuttered glass double doors lead from the kitchen to the garden for dining outside. There is also a a utility room on the ground floor with a washing machine, iron & ironing board.

Upstairs, the master double bedroom suite contains a king-sized bed, walk-in closet and an en-suite bathroom On the ground floor, an imposing entrance hall with original beams and staircase leads to a traditional French country kitchen with large fireplace. On the same floor, the second bedroom has a four poster bed, a sofa that can convert to a single bed for a child, and an en-suite bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. Another set of stairs leads to the (full-height) converted attic where there are two other double bedrooms and the third bathroom. A cot and an extra fold-up single bed can be made available if required.

The master bedroom ensuite has a bath, separate shower, washbasin and separate toilet. The ensuite to the second bedroom contains a shower, washbasin and toilet. The third bathroom contains a shower, washbasin and toilet. There is also a WC on the ground floor.
- House rental rate includes electricity, gas, water, taxes, and bed linen & towels for the master bedroom. Charge of Â£20 per bed for any additional bedrooms to be used includes bed linen & towels &covers the entire stay.
- Rental period is Saturday to Saturday; arrival after 4 pm, departure before 10 am unless otherwise agreed. Minimum one week (two weeks from July 20-August 31 & in December-February
- Additional charge of Â£55 per week for central heating in the cooler months.

- A deposit of 40% of the total rental is required to confirm the booking, with the balance and (returnable) Â£200 security deposit to be paid 8 weeks before the start of the rental period.
