The Old World is alive at this historic villa in Umbria, whose ancient stone courtyard is surrounded by meadows, woods vineyards, and olive groves. A recent restoration has welcomed this abandoned 11th century church and 18th century farmhouse into the present; now the property enjoys a second life as a working organic farm. Inside you'll find old stone walls, standing in perfect contrast with the plush furniture and modern fixtures. Especially stunning - the grand piano, shining beneath the old beams of a vaulted ceiling! Weddings are nothing short of spectacular here, whether your guests join you the chapel (seating up to 40) or outside among either fields or ancient flagstone. Located by the tiny town of La Bruna (1 km), this holiday villa has easy access to Perugia (30 km), the capital city and site of the nearest airport. You'll delight at the countryside here, at the foot of Monte Tezio; the truffle forests of Umbria are calling you! #### Features Villa Chiesa is a stunning 11th century church and 18th century farm house, restored in 2012. The property is divided into two structures, the first the ancient church and the second the farm house. Church Interior The main church area has been restored to the exact proportion of the original, together with a recently discovered small crypt. The large floor to ceiling glass window provides a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. There is a large, well equipped kitchen, including double oven and 6 gas hobs, dishwasher, microwave and large fridge/freezer. There is also a kitchen table and chairs. There is a stunning drawing room in the main section of the church. These rooms are furnished with comfortable sofas and a grand piano, and it is wonderful for relaxation, yoga or meditation as well as a great entertainment space. Off this main room is a large dining room, able to seat 14. A toilet (suitable for disabled) is also located in the church. Farmhouse Interior The farmhouse is a beautiful restored large building on two levels, surrounded by terraces and located across a small courtyard from the church. It features eight bedrooms and six bathrooms: five en-suite double bedrooms, one double and two single bedrooms. The ground floor Bedroom 1 is a large double bedroom that is suitable for handicapped use; it has its own terrace and an en-suite bathroom with shower. Bedroom 2 is a large double bedroom, with its own stone terrace, with an en-suite bathroom with shower and own private dressing room. Bedroom 3 is a large double bedroom, with private terrace and a stunning en-suite bathroom with shower and luxury bath, both with stunning views across the truffle wood. Each bedroom can have either two single beds or one large double bed. A second kitchen area is located on this floor. This features a small kitchenette with fridge and microwave and also a place for coats and boots. In addition there is a laundry with washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes dryer and sink. First floor 4 further bedrooms and an additional sitting room The master bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower, fireplace and stunning private terrace and outdoor stairs, giving it its own private entrance. A second double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower. A third large double bedroom, and a fourth charming bedroom that contains a single bed (an additional bed can be added) and they share a large family bathroom with shower. The rooms all lead onto the centrally located sitting room, with comfortable seating, stereo system and television. Outdoor Space The property has a stone terrace surrounding it and there are beautiful landscaped gardens.The swimming pool is located above the main house in a quiet and secluded position.This is furnished with sunbeds, large umbrellas, outdoor shower and a toilet inside the pool house.There is a pergola to provide shade.The area around the pool has been fenced for safety but this does not impose on the wonderful views gained from this area. A barbecue area is located close to the main kitchen and outside dining area. Guests wishing to use this facility must book in advance of their arrival - A substantial welcome pack is available on arrival. - Barbecue - Swimming pool, Dimensions: 15x5.5 metres #### Location Villa Chiesa is located in the heart of Umbria, only 20 minutes north of the cosmopolitan city of Perugia and close to the borders of Tuscany. It is located at the foot of Monte Tezio in a protected valley where the wildlife is abundant and nature is thriving. The views from all directions are stunning. To the south is Monte Subasio and the town of Assisi. To the west is the ancient castle of Antognolla, and to the north are woodlands and the mountains ranges of the Appenines. The valley itself is outstanding in natural beauty. The mountains of Monte Tezio rise high above it, and forests and olive groves follow down to the valley where there are beautiful streams and a wonderful vineyard. This is great countryside for horse riding and walking as well as for trying local food and wine. Villa Chiesa is very well located to the amenities of the local area. It is only 1 km from the small village of La Bruna. The village of Pierantonio is a 5 minute drive, and the larger market town of Umbertide is a ten minute drive. All of these towns have shops, restaurants, banks and more and are easy to reach. The main road of the E45 is only a 5 minute drive away and allows guests to visit the many attractions of the nearby area as well as in Tuscany, Le Marche and southern Umbria. Visitors to the area are able to enjoy the highlights of Assisi and Gubbio. It is very much a thriving local area. There is a vibrant market weekly in Umbertide. Wild boar hunts take place in the valley weekly in the season, and many local fiestas are held throughout the year. Visitors are very much welcomed. The University city of Perugia is only a 20 minute drive and provides all the larger services such as rail, bus and air connections as well as the famous festivals such as Umbria Jazz. Only 2 km from the property is Antognolla Golf Estate, which boasts a challenging golf course and a wonderful restaurant. Lake Trasimeno is a short half hour drive and there guests can enjoy a large variety of watersports, take a ferry across to one of the Islands, visit many of the lovely towns that surround the lake and eat at some of the wonderful restaurants that serve fresh lake fish. #### Extras Services upon request at additional cost: - A catering service can be provided to guests. - Cooking classes can be arranged either at the villa or offsite. - Shopping can be arranged. - Maid service is flexible and depends on the guests' wishes. - Babysitting, taxi service, wine tours, truffle hunts, guided tours, guided walks and beautician treatments on site can also be arranged.
