Islands Of Malta

A rough guide to the beautiful Mediterranean island of Malta

In the centre of the Mediterranean Sea lies the Maltese archipelago, which is made up of 3 islands (Malta, Gozo and Comino). Surrounded by indigo blue waters and stunning weather it's hard to say why anyone wouldn't want to holiday here. Discover more about these magnificent islands, with some information I have put together…

Malta
Malta is the largest of the 3 islands and is packed full of things to discover wherever you go. Malta's striking backdrop of warm oranges and deep blues is a truly impressive sight. Not only is Malta visually impressive, but it is full of history and culture, which can still be seen today (making this popular with tourists). With weather that is good the majority of the year, there is plenty of time to plan your holiday. Popular resort in Malta are Marsascala, Mellieha, St. Julian's and St. Paul's Bay.

Gozo

Gozo
The second largest of the islands, Gozo is more of a rural, simple island with culture and traditional roots. The island's coastline is surrounded by a hilly landscape with many cliffs. Although a lot quieter than mainland Malta there are still a great selection of restaurants to choose from which open early to cater to those early risers. The people that live here consider this to be a safe haven, where you can have an enjoyable holiday and the residents here also take pride in the community and surroundings of this island. Popular resorts in Gozo are Xaghra, Xewkjia and Zebbug.

Comino
Comino is the smallest of the three islands and is nestled between them both. Comino is a car free island and only has one hotel; there are also only a handful of people that live here permanently. However, that being said Comino is a paradise for snorkellers, divers and windsurfers. There is also the popular “Blue Lagoon” which is a sheltered cove of water over white sand and is very popular with day-trippers to the island.
