Guide to the Canary Islands Part 2 – Tenerife

This time of the year holiday makers are looking for winter sun destinations.

Welcome to the second part of our “Guide to the Canary Islands”. For the second part of our guide we are going to be giving you some information on the largest island in the Canaries. Tenerife is not only the largest but probably the most popular out of all the islands, with thousands of holidaymakers coming throughout the year.

Tenerife boasts stretches of golden beaches, water parks, luxurious hotel resorts and lively nightlife too. Tenerife is a holiday destination suitable for all the family including young children and teenagers, you will be sure to find something to suit everyone and make the most of your holiday break away.

Tenerife has many well known and extremely popular resorts, each offering something different. Resorts include:

Playa de Las Americas – The main place for all the lively night time entertainment with endless bars and fabulous hotels.

Los Cristianos – A more sophisticated atmosphere during the day but close enough to all the action at Playa de Las Americas during the evening (great for if you don't want all the action on your doorstep).

Golf del Sur – Beautiful scenes with a Spanish personality, recommended for golfers but great for non-golfers alike.

The warm/hot climate of the Canary Islands is the largest appeal during the winter months as the weather is still warm, so it's perfect for those looking to get away from the chilly UK. As well as the other popular regions which make up the Canary Islands, Tenerife has become more in demand during the end of the year (December time) over the Christmas and New Year period. Mainly because of the good weather, making it more appealing to UK holiday makers with the added bonus that the flight time isn't too long (especially for those with children).

Many regional UK airports including London Gatwick and Luton, East Midlands, Manchester, etc… offer direct flights to Tenerife. You will fly into Tenerife South (Reina Sofia) airport via a selection of budget airlines such as Ryanair, Monarch, Thomson Flights and many more. At the airport there are a number of transportation options to choose from including coaches, taxis and car rental services.
