• "This was a great place for my family (two adults and two 14yr olds)."

  I read the reviews about the sofa and the kitchen table. Could not see any problems with either so I would not let those put you off! Parking is a bit tricky though.

• "We were delighted with this cottage it is very well equipped ,full of character and quirky and of course breath taking views."

  Our only issue was that with a large car parking was not easy .We would certainly return and will look to rebook if not later this year then certainly next Spring.The Owner phoning to check that all was ok was a nice touch too.

• "We had a super weeks holiday at this cottage."

  The property has so much charm with the old beams and staircase. You can tell the cottage dates back to the 18th century: some of the walls are three foot thick! The olde world charm is supplemented by the cosy furnishings and stylish decor throughout. The kitchen is well equipped and a delight to work in. We particularly liked the little wood-burning stove in there. We found the new leather sofa to be very comfortable and the ideal spot to sit back and enjoy the simply stunning views over Troutbeck valley. I could have sat there all day, taking in those landscape views and with the spring lambs below in the immediate fields. The bedrooms were fine, and we all enjoyed a comfortable night's sleep throughout our stay. We will be back!

• "We were extremely disappointed with Longmire Yeat Cottage."

  Although the cottage had stunning views, was attractive and clean with all the amenities one would require for a weeks stay, however, it was the furnishings that were, to say the least appalling. As a result my wife and I (both in our late 70s) had no alternative because of the lack of comfort, to vacate the cottage early, even after looking forward to our holiday for so long. The following are the three primary areas of complaint: 1. Kitchen table extremely unhygienic - cracks in the table top contained food debri and mould. The table had been raised but was still to low for me to get my knees under. 2. The sofa in the sitting room was extremely uncomfortable to the point that it caused myself and my wife back and neck ache if we sat in it for more than about 30 minutes. This left only the other two chairs in the room to sit on if we wanted to watch TV and they were neither really comfortable. One was a low back bucket chair, the other, a very small armed chair. 3. The main bed room was described to have a super king bed (but was stated, "could be used as two separate singles") It was made up as a super king but unfortunately the two single mattresses were of different makes therefore slightly different heights, making sleeping close together difficult/impossible and uncomfortable. The three bedrooms were limited to just one small wardrobe. The final irritation was the TV, it was on a Sky Box but was limited to about 5/6 channels. If any of the other channels were selected, a notice came on the screen "Insert sky card" The above issues have previously all been noted in the visitors book by other visitors but no corrective action has been taken. My wife and I feel that we were mislead by Sykes and the marketing used to describe the cottage and based on reality Longmire Yeat Cottage is grossly over priced.

We are sorry to hear about the issues you encountered at the cottage, unfortunately we weren't aware of any of these problems during your stay as we could have tried to resolve them to make your stay more comfortable. However, the owner has taken onboard all your comments and we can assure guests that there is now a new kitchen table along with a new leather sofa (living room images) installation of a Smart TV with access to Netflix, Amazon prime, iplayer plus other channels for guests to enjoy. Unfortunately we havent had any complaints about the ziplink bed but it has been noted. • "The best location, lovely cottage, view exceptional."

  As has been said before a couple of improvements would make it perfect- the settee is well below standard- unhygenic, a leather settee that can be wiped down, feels better to me. The table in the kitchen has food down the gaps in the wood & difficult to fit legs under with comfort, the chairs are rickerty and unstable. Glad an outdoor table & chairs had been purchased, made good use of as the weather was good. All of the pillows are lumpy- we all woke in the night with sore ears. The master bed was comfortable, loved the utility room-washing machine & drier- towards the end of the week the sight of that settee & rug in the living room I found a bit depressing- overall had a great week- we love the Lake District

• "Lovely cottage in an ideal location for exploring."

  However, there a few things to mention. On arrival we reported to Chloe that the window in the kitchen was cracked and received no reassurance about this. We also reported that there was insufficient glassware and we were told that this would be dropped off. Since this was not the case we bought champagne flutes ( it was our anniversary). The sofa proved to be uncomfortable and as awful as the reviews suggested since 2017! Consequently we did not use it and sat in the two other random chairs provided. It was difficult to sit at the dining table since the table legs were too short for the chairs provided. On a positive note the bathroom and master bedroom were lovely and we slept very well. The outdoor furniture was also a nice addition. We would book to stay in this cottage again once you confirm that the sofa and dining furniture have been upgraded.

• "We were allocated this cottage by Heart of the Lakes as our original booking with them was double booked on arrival due to an error made by the owners and not the fault of HOTL."

  Although this was not the cottage we booked we liked the location and enjoyed our holiday despite the mishap. Our only criticism was the internal decor; this cottage needs an update, in particular the living room seating which is obviously ancient! A new couch is needed, the one there is well past it. Also some new kitchen ware, there is mismatch of bowls and mugs, many of which are chipped. A little investment in this direction may encourage us to book it again.

• "Had a wonderful time for my 40th birthday week!"

  The cottage is just stunning and a dream home with fabulous views. The only downside was the outside furniture. Two battered and stained deck chairs doesn't really cut it for a cottage for 4 people when you have that beautiful space to sit out as the weather was fabulous! Otherwise perfect!
