ALFORD

Mablethorpe 8 miles; Skegness 11 miles; Louth 14 miles; Horncastle 15 miles.

Alford is a charming market town in Lincolnshire. It is set at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is about 11 miles north-west of the coastal resort of Skegness. There is a small range of shops including a pharmacy, hardware store, delicatessen, post office, fruit and veg shop and a butchers plus a small Co-op store with an electric car charging point. There are 4 nearby fuel stations.
Alford has become an important centre for arts and crafts with many markets held throughout the year alongside the Alford Craft Market Shop and arts centre that stocks a wide range of local artists products including pottery made at the Alford Pottery.
The main market is held in the Market Place every Tuesday and Friday with the Alford Craft Market being held every Spring and August Bank Holiday as well as Christmas markets being held every year. Alford is known for its Grade 1 listed windmill, which is currently under renovation. Alford Manor House is a central point in the town, with its exhibitions and museum as well as a tea room and open gardens. With Alford being set in the Lincolnshire Wolds, there are plenty of walking and cycling routes to follow or even take a trip to the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway or Claythorpe Watermill and Wildfowl Gardens, where you will find a welcoming cafe/tearooms offering a delicious selection of homemade meals and cakes.There is plenty of space to sit and relax with great views of the old mill and a collection of wildfowl in their picturesque habitat on the banks of the River Eau.

Regarded as one of Lincolnshire's most attractive villages, Woodhall Spa is famous for its peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, with many fine restaurants, bars and cafes. The unique Kinema in the Woods cinema offers regular entertainment and is home to an original Compton Kinestra organ which you might see perform in the interval if you are lucky! Other heritage sites include the Cottage Museum, Jubilee Park with an outdoor heated swimming pool and several aviation heritage sites associated with 617 Squadron (the Dambusters). The historic city of Lincoln is approximately 60 minutes away and is home to the Lincoln Bomber Command Memorial Centre, Castle, Cathedral, museums, all alongside a wide range of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops.
