Property is in a very good position for visiting Canterbury, Dover castle, Broadstairs et al. Minor problems (eg broken lightbulb, dripping tap and missing saucepan) were dealt with quickly and cheerfully. Instructions for cooker, heating etc could be a bit more detailed. Cutlery drawer is hidden inside another drawer.

Maintenance appears to be lacking with both showers, bath tap constantly running, basin plug stuck shut and not repaired during our whole stay, one of the two fans very shoddy. It was the hottest week of the year but we couldn't have the windows or doors open as the owner's cats kept coming in at every opportunity (our granddaughter is extremely allergic to cats). We did tell him but he said some people welcome the cats into the property and it is therefore impossible to keep them out.

However, our stay was spoilt by the behaviour of Matt the owner despite the positive reviews about him. No-one was there to greet us although we kept him informed of our progress on the journey. His house is next door. Heating was not on on arrival so after a cold night Matt came in to see to it whilst we were out when he could also have checked on the TV which we had reported that we could not start. When we returned in the evening the TV would still not work so we texted him to please come over and help us with this. When he came by he just charged past us looking mad and was losing his temper saying it was not broken (we had not said this) and being aggressive towards us. After he said he would have to call a technician, he managed to make the TV work and showed us how to do this. We esteem the apartment should have been checked properly before we arrived, especially as we arrived a day late due to storms on the Saturday. Particularly the heating and TV should have been functioning. The icemaker also did not work. The rest of our stay was tainted by Matt's behaviour and we did not see, nor wish to see, him again.

Space outside allowed our granddaughter to ride her scooter and play football. Parking for two cars was next to the Lodge, The owner welcomed us and gave a short insight to the area and facilities but did not bother us after that. The property is situated in a lovely part of Kent, fairly remote but easy to get out from. We had a day visiting Deal, the White Cliffs of Dover (NT) and Hastings to see family. Day 2 we visited the Wildlife centre then went to Herne Bay for the beach. Day 3 we walked up the road to Goodnestone Gardens which were well worth a visit. Then a trip into Canterbury in the afternoon. The farm shop up the road provided our dinner on Day 3 - as good as home-cooked!
