Details of the Apartment

The beautiful house, set on a cliff overlooking the valley of the Rio Chico, is used as a base for small group walking holidays. (Sep - June). It is only a 5 min walk from the centre of Orgiva, so a car is not essential, yet the town cannot be seen from the property. The annex has its own private entrance, up an outside staircase from the shady courtyard, and a balcony with bird's-eye view over the valley and surrounding mountains. The secluded courtyard may be used for al fresco meals and the plunge pool is set in an enclosed garden not overlooked by the house. During walking season other clients may use it but usually only between 6 and 8 pm as they are away most of the day. Nature lovers will delight in the many hidden gardens, ponds and secret summerhouse linked by paths and steps from the cliff to the valley floor providing solitude and privacy. There is a large twin bed studio with balcony, separate single bedroom, kitchen/dining room, washroom with basin and loo, separate shower room - tiled and with shower doors. Extra accommodation available in main house and meals by arrangement.
Day walks are available in the stunning mountains of the Alpujarra and you may easily visit the pretty white villages of Sierra Nevada and also take a trip to the Alhambra in Granada. Kitchen/dining room overlooking courtyard with morning sun. Table and chairs for three. 4 ring gas hob, microwave, fridge, sink, fully equipped with china, cutlery, utensils for cooking, and we supply a starter pack of coffee, tea, sugar, milk, butter, bread, marmelade, oil, wine, loo paper and washing-up liquid.

The Alpujarra is a beautiful area comprising the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, Spain's highest mountain range, the valley of the Rio Guadalfeo and the northern slopes of the Contraviesa, famous for almond blossom and Costa wine. The pretty white villages of Sierra Nevada have typical Berber style Alpujarran achitecture with flat roofs and flower-filled balconies. Due to the winter snows the mountains are lush and green with deciduous and coniferous forests, streams and waterfalls cascade down the mountains and irrigate the local crops. The villages sell local artesan work and food products and of course have bars and restaurants where you may try local specialities. The nearest airports are Granada and Malaga and you may easily connect to Orgiva by bus. The Owner's website gives details and links to cheap flights, bus timetables in English, and car hire.
