Down a quiet country lane near Pollenca, Villa Barrett is a stone-clad Mallorcan Finca with lots of charm. Set in beautifully landscaped gardens, the house is within a few minutes of the Puerto Pollenca beaches and makes a great choice for a family getaway, with a children's play area and private pool. It's a pleasure to take time out at this traditional 5-bedroom home, which gives guests fine views of the mountains clad with pine trees. The wonderfully scented gardens have plenty of space to relax, with sun loungers, a 10x4m swimming pool, and an L-shaped covered terrace with seating and dining areas wrapped around the house. Also on the terrace, you have a brick barbecue, and there's space for up to ten guests to dine. A poolside shower is another convenient addition, and while the children enjoy the swings, slide or see-saw, the adults can have a game of table tennis. Inside, a comfortable family lounge has a Plasma TV, DVD, music system and Wi-Fi to entertain you, and a well-equipped oak kitchen is found on the same level. A double and a twin bedroom, both with fitted wardrobes, share the use of a full bathroom. Upstairs, two more twin rooms with an adjoining shower room enjoy some beautiful views over the nearby olive and almond groves. For those looking for little extra privacy, a self-contained casita with its kitchen, living area and double bedroom with en-suite, also forms part of Villa Barrett. Lying to the east of the Serra de Tramuntana, pretty Pollenca is perfect for wandering, with historic churches and little, cafe-fringed squares. Walkers and cyclists flock to the mountain, while the town itself has plenty of small boutiques and restaurants to please the less energetic. The neighbouring port lies to the north and has one of the area's best beaches, with numerous bars and restaurants to explore in the vicinity. Just down the coast, Alcudia has a large marina, serving as a boarding point for boat trips to Menorca and the Spanish mainland. There are activities for all ages in Alcudia, with a water-park for the children and a popular golf course just outside the town. Many beautiful places can be found in the surrounding area, such as the Natural Park S'Albufera, the largest of its kind in the Balearics. Pollenca is easily accessible, with Palma de Mallorca Airport around 60km away.
