Why not get closer to the action and go scuba diving, or if you prefer not to get wet, then try a swing in Golf Vale de Milho, a par-3 course designed by Dave Thomas who himself took part in the Ryder Cup not once but four times. The fact Carvoeiro is surrounded by beaches means it has maintained its old school scharm, with a population of less than 3000 people. Praia de Carvoeiro is the main beach just behind the town and is sheltered by dominating cliff faces on either side, local bars and cafes just a few steps away in case you need a cool beverage. Walking tours will provide perfect vistas of the ocean and will most likely lead you to Fort of Senhora da Conceicao dating back to the 17th century.
