Regarding the history of the parish: Primarily linked to the parish of Estreito da Calheta, the parish of Prazeres became independent along with some couples from Fajã da Ovelha on December 28, 1676. Its name comes from a small chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Pleasures, built there long before the creation of the parish. Because beauty has the beneficial power to exalt the senses, the pleasure of the landscape is an easy achievement here! The parish is, in itself, a wide viewpoint from which you can see apparently distant places, in perfect symbiosis with the ocean, a unique meeting point between land and sea.
