Chasselas' was once a pair of winegrowers houses that were renovated & converted into one house about twelve years ago. Downstairs are two large rooms, one is the kitchen/dining room with a Shower/utility room & separate WC off. The second is the spacious lounge featuring the original stone fireplace with wood burning stove.
Upstairs are 3 double bedrooms and a bathroom all having South facing views over the garden.
Outside, the stone walled, private, garden is mainly gravelled with a small lawn, fruit trees and shrubs . Facing the house is a stone barn/boathouse.
The house lies on the border of Charente and Charente Maritime in the centre of the Cognac vineyards, one of the neighbours being a cognac producer. The nearest village, Breville, 3kms, has a bakery and a bar/restaurant. The nearest town is Matha (10kms) & the historic town of Cognac is about 15kms. The coast, at Royan, is a I hour 10minute drive away. Set in a small hamlet of 6 or so houses the environment is relaxing and peaceful.

Chasselas is surrounded by miles and miles of vineyards that produce the wine for the Cognac distilleries. The countryside is flat with huge skies and ideal for cycling and walking. Our nearest neighbour is a reputed cognac producer.
A fifteen minute drive will take you into the town of Cognac and the beautiful river Charente. Cognac town is steeped in history and has numerous attractions for the visitor; boat trips on the river, tours of Hennessey and other distilleries, museums and a host of bars and restaurants. Unlike other towns in the region Cognac has a rich cultural life with film festivals and music festivals, including a world famous Blues festival in July.
Further away are the historic centres of Saintes and Rochefort, both lying on the River Charente
On booking a deposit of 25% is required. The balance, plus a returnable security deposit of £100, is payable 6 weeks before the rental period. More details will be provided in our booking conditions document. During March, April, May and October electricity costs are charged.
