From the sparkling stretch of white sands at the award-winning sand dunes national park to the four major ones located in the town itself, served by cafes and restaurants for your convenience, there's a beach to suit everyone's tastes! The Natural Park, right beside the town, is well worth a visit, with stunning sand dunes, ocean views and endless miles of beaches – it feels just like the desert (until you get to the sea, of course!). The explorers of the group will love a trip dune-buggying around it and up across the striking, volcanic landscapes! Head over to the famous ‘Popcorn Beach' to experience the viral phenomenal up close: a whole beach covered in these fascinating little bits of coral – you can even walk here from the town for a scenic coastal stroll too! Known as the Hawaii of the Atlantic, or ‘the European Hawaii' thanks to its crystal clear and warm waters and fabulous surfing seascape, across the island you will find countless opportunities for outdoor adventures, including all kinds of water-sports. For the active types among the group, renting a bike is a great way to explore the island, and is both a safe and enjoyable choice thanks to the many bike paths that run alongside the main roads and well-marked trails. The island has a strong connection with several countries of South America, cultural heritage and history you can learn about in several places, including learning a little of the native language!
