Villa Meltem is a luxurious four-bedroom villa overlooking the breath-taking Kalamar Bay and boasts the majestic Taurus Mountains as a backdrop. From the villa, it's only 100 metres to a quiet turquoise cove with a soft sandy beach and crystal-clear calm swimming waters, and you're within walking distance of charming Kalkan town with an eclectic mix of Greek and Turkish architecture. The villa itself elegantly combines traditional Mediterranean architecture with cool contemporary interiors. Outside, the building is minimalist with whitewashed walls and tinted-blue glass balconies picking out the hues in the sky and the sea. It's slightly west of the old fishing town of Kalkan and has the majestic pine tree-lined Taurus Mountains as backdrop. The quiet cove is sheltered and is a popular place to simply swim in the crystal-clear turquoise waters or take part in water sports like kayaking, scuba diving or jet skiing. A short walk from Kalamar Bay takes you into Kalkan centre with an exquisite harbour dotted with Turkish wooden gulets (boats), waterfront restaurants and a beautiful and historic old town area which extends back from the sea. Wander the streets with houses draped in brightly coloured bougainvillaea flowers or dine on a roof terrace restaurant with spectacular views of the town. There are also plenty of swimming beaches in Kalkan and Turkish Baths for a relaxing end-of-day massage. To immerse yourself in the rich history of this charming part of Turkey, you can visit the Church turned mosque by Kalkan's harbour. Venturing furthering afield you can take a boat trip to visit various stunning bay or from nearby Kas to the small island of Kekova where you can snorkel and explore the part sunken ruins of Dolchiste, an ancient town which was destroyed by an earthquake during the 2nd century, known as the sunken city. For outdoor adventurers, the dramatic Taurus Mountains with deeply cut valleys and canyons are an ideal place to hike. You could also join the popular Lycian Way – a long-distance footpath that takes you around the coast. The route stops at great Lycian sites including the aquaduct betweenCavdir and Uzumlu with abandoned Greek buildings. Lycian sites in the area include Patara, Xanthos, Letton and Tlos to name a few. The bohemian town of Kas is a 30 minute drive, while the resort town of Fethiye is a one-hour drive away.
