Details of the House

You'll feel like an authentic Roman citizen when you stay at a stylish apartment in an exclusive neighbourhood only a short walk from the famous Piazza di Spagna and the iconic Spanish Steps. It's just wonderful to be in the centre of Rome, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with its vibrant fountain filled piazzas, charming churches, fascinating archaeological sites and an extraordinary history stretching back over 2,800 years. Each of these elegant air conditioned two bedroom apartments is designed and comfortably furnished using a stylish blend of original features and contemporary comfort. A sofa bed in the restful living room creates space for an additional two guests to make a party of six. Each apartment has two walk-in shower rooms, a modern kitchenette and offers complimentary buffet breakfasts, daily maid service, concierge, mini bar and sumptuous bathrobes and slippers. Step outside towards nearby Piazza di Spagna, admire the Baroque Fontana della Barcaccia and look up towards the lovely church of Trinita dei Monti. The square is also famous for the Keats-Shelley Memorial House and The Babington Tea Rooms but you may prefer to spend your time browsing in the prestigious designer shops of Via Condotti. This is the perfect location for many of the best known historical sites as well as great restaurants and shops. Take a stroll in the peaceful Borghese Gardens and don't forget to throw a coin into the Trevi fountain. Take your time to visit the Palatine Hill, Pantheon, Roman Forum, Colosseum and the treasures of Vatican City before exploring lesser known but equally charming parts of the city where you might stumble across a traditional trattoria for an aperitivo and dinner. The Hop-On-Hop-Off bus, electric bike tour or night time Segway excursion are great ways to get to know Rome. Alternatively, escape the urban bustle for a day and book a trip to extraordinary Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius or the Amalfi coast and Positano. Closer to home, indulge in a wine and food tasting tour in the surrounding countryside or breathe in centuries of history as you walk the ancient Appian Way. #### Features Please note there is a group of ‘Scudi' two-bedroom apartments and you will be allocated one on arrival. The apartments are part of two historic buildings, situated across four floors (no lift) whilst the communal breakfast is served in the main building near the reception. You are only a few steps away from the charm of Piazza di Spagna and the famous Spanish Steps which lead up to the beautiful Trinita dei Monti. These steps were the perfect cinematic backdrop for actress Audrey Hepburn and her ice-cream in the 1953 film “Roman Holiday”. At the foot of the steps are the famous Babington Tearoom and Bernini's “Fountain of the Leaky Boat”, a monument commemorating the Tiber floods of 1598. The nearby Keats-Shelley Memorial House is well worth a visit to see where the English romantic poet Keats lived and died. Visit Via Condotti for high-end designer shops, the centre of Italian fashion since Bulgari opened its store here in 1905. For a contrasting atmosphere, take a stroll along charming Via Margutta, a short and narrow street with ivy clad homes and little art galleries. In the 17th century this street housed fine craftsmen, stables and workshops and later attracted many artists and film makers. Beyond your neighbourhood, tour the underground grottoes of St Peter's Basilica before gazing up at Michelangelo's frescoes in the Sistine Chapel or exploring the Vatican Museum. Take a tour of the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and don't forget to admire the view from the Palatine Hill. Sample some of Rome's fantastic food and wine at one of its many restaurants and trattorie or take a street food tour with a local guide to try out some local delicacies. Yet there are also so many parts of Rome that are steeped in history and not top of the list of tourist destinations. Just a few steps away from the Trevi fountain is Piazza Santi Apostoli, a largely unknown 19th century Art Nouveau courtyard with brilliantly coloured frescoes, providing a pleasant contrast to the paler ancient ruins scattered throughout the city. Visit the trompe-l'oeil masterpiece of Chiesa di Santa Ignazio di Loyola or head to Largo di Torre Argentina to see the famous Portico of Pompey where Caesar was murdered-the whole area is now inhabited by cats who are cared for by the local cat ladies or “gattare”. For a pleasant day away from the city centre, walk the ancient Appian Way or take a food and wine tasting tour in the local countryside. Further afield are day trips to Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Positano and the Amalfi coast as well as the sandy beaches of Fiumicino.
