‘Love Locks' in Paris

The display of 'Love Locks' is proof that the 'City of Light' is romantic as ever

Whoever thought romance was dead? Paris has a reputation of being one of the world's most romantic cities and it's not hard to see why. The charming backdrop and cultural settings invite millions of visitors to this European haven each year. Whether it's wedding proposals or celebrations between couples, Paris has always been one of the top choice destinations for people to show and share their love.

Throughout Paris you can also discover quirky yet symbolic displays of affection such as “Love Locks”. Love Locks can be found on two main bridges in Paris; Pont des Arts and Pont de l'Archevêché. The Idea is to write a message onto a padlock and then lock it onto the bridge railings; you then would throw the padlock key into the river Seine as a symbol of undying love (the thousands of padlocks already on the bridges take up a variety or shapes, styles and sizes) which makes it quiet an impressive work of art.

However, take note of which bridge is which as they both have a similar yet different purpose. Pont des Arts is for your long term love and relationships where as Pont de l'Archevêché is for a lover, this also explains why there are far more locks on Pont de l'Archevêché.
