The Amazing Palm Jumeirah in Dubai

As one of the seven Emirate states that form the United Arab Emirates, the ever growing, ever developing city of Dubai has transformed magnificently in the last decade or so. For a city which started out with nothing much more than desert plains in a hot and humid climate, Dubai is not only one of the wealthiest cities in the world but its expanding population and unique architecture make this one of the most thriving business and holiday capitals in the world. Dubai is home to more than 2 million residents, from over 200 different nationalities, making it one of the most ethnically diverse.

This 21st century metropolis is home to the largest man made infrastructure in the world, known as The Palm Jumeirah Island, whose construction started back in 2001. This iconic island is the only one of its kind and has had a massive impact on the tourism in Dubai, attracting millions of visitors each year. After construction commenced on this impressive project, plans were set in motion to develop other similar islands such as The Palm Jebal Ali and The World Islands.

The Palm Jumeirah itself is home to the luxury Atlantis Palm Hotel which can be reached by a monorail from the mainland near Dubai Marina. Not only you will find 5 star accommodation and cuisine, the hotel also boasts a world class water park and an aquarium. Other luxury hotels on the island include Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Kempinski The Palm, Rixos Palm Jumeirah and Fairmont The Palm.

As well as stunning hotels and attractions there are also many private villas and apartments on the Palm Jumeirah to choose from, including luxury villas with private beach on the branches of the Palm and luxury Dubai apartments along the trunk section. The Palm Shoreline apartments, Oceana complexes and Grandeur Residences are amongst the most popular holiday rentals with holiday makers.

As previously mentioned Dubai is a fast developing city and new buildings and skyscrapers are popping up just about everywhere, always bigger and better than the last. Construction is due to start soon on a new flagship shopping mall and entertainment complex located right in the centre of the island. This will provide over 200 stores, an open roof fine dining area and a cinema. Not to mention a new supermarket and a 40 story hotel with 300 room and a 100 self-catering apartments in Dubai.
