Guide to the Canary Islands Part 4 – Lanzarote

This time of the year holiday makers are looking for winter sun destinations.

During part 4 of our guide to the Canary Islands I will be giving you some more information regarding yet another prime holiday destination. Lanzarote is known for its golden beaches and dramatic peaks which are visually impressive. Despite being known for having some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands, Lanzarote has much more to offer. The bizarre rock formations are another reason why tourists flood here throughout the year, and of course because of the added bonus of great weather making it a popular winter sun holiday destination.

Like other major holiday destinations, Lanzarote is not short of resorts and things to keep everyone occupied. Lanazrote has resorts catered to families and couples. Popular resorts with tourists include:

Puerto del Carmen - During the day the beach is swarmed with beach lovers looking to soak up the sun. As the night falls Puerto del Carmen is lit up by plenty of bars and restaurants.

Playa Blanca - suitablbe for families and couples. Playa Blanca is a quiet resort with blue flag beaches.

Costa Teguise - catered to holiday makers who love sports; popular with golf lovers and water-sports fans. Also it has a modern atmosphere in a traditional setting.

UK airports including London Luton & Gatwick, East Midlands, Leeds, etc… offer scheduled flights into Lanzarote airport via a number of affordable airlines such as Monarch, Jet2 and Ryanair. Once at the airport there are a selection of transfer options to resorts all over the island including coaches, taxis and rental car services.

With many choices on offer, sometimes it is hard to decide on where to go. Also check our other guides to the Canary Islands including Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura to offer you some key information, hopefully to make you decision easier for your next holiday.
